Welcome To Our Story

I wrote Booty Call a year and a half ago, alone in my room with a dream to one day watch it on the big screen. This is nothing new, actually. I write multiple feature films every year with the same dream, and the same thing happens every time: I hassle the creative people I know for feedback and rewrite it on an endless loop until the next idea sparks, and I move on to new characters experiencing a new story.

It’s been this way since grade 8 when I wrote my first script and asked my mom what Warner Bro’s mailing address was. I was beyond certain that my handwritten story, edited with pencil crayons and whiteout, was good enough for the world to see.

While I have learned that it’s next to impossible to get anyone to even read my work (because, honestly, nobody finds reading scripts as exciting as I do), my confidence remains high that this crazy dream will come true. And, after having way too many near-death experiences, I wrote Booty Call with the expressed intent to get past the impossible and make it myself.

Slowly and surely, a small army of people has come to push this project to where it is today and I almost can't believe it.

Today, we are less than one month away from principal photography. Today, we have actors rehearsing and spending their time getting to know their characters. We have our camera crew planning out how this story will look. We have locations prepped and props and wardrobes assembled.

At its core, this project is about people coming together. It's about using our skills and talent to show off what we are capable of. It's about seeing dreams come true for every person on this team and celebrating every step of the way.

The impossible is turning into a tangible physical thing, and I can't wait to share it with you!

From my room to yours,

Sonja
